Auction Rules and Payment

You will receive your Bidder Number when you check in for the evening along with a special addendum of any late entry auction items. You will also be asked to verify the credit card to be used to guarantee payment for any purchases at the event. Personal checks may be used to pay for your final purchases during check out. All invited Guests are requested to provide a credit card in order to receive their own Bidder Number.

Silent Auction

Bidding in Silent Auction:
Enter your Bidder Number and bid amount on the appropriate Bidding Sheet. Please pay careful attention to the expiration date and availability restrictions on some of the items. When a table closes, the last and highest entry on the Bidding Sheet will be highlighted as the winner. Please note the minimum bid and minimum bid increments listed on each Bidding Sheet. Your entry on the Bidding Sheet constitutes your agreement to pay if you are the last and highest bidder.

Closing Silent Auction Tables:
Tables will close in sections every 10-15 minutes as announced by the Auctioneer. If an item is especially popular at closing, the Auctioneer may choose to auction the item live at that time.

Live Auction

The Auctioneer will conduct the Live Auction. When bidding during the Live Auction, raise your program with your Bidder Number facing the auctioneer to be acknowledged by a spotter and the Auctioneer. If you are the highest bidder, a volunteer will record your Bidder Number as the rightful buyer and provide you with a confirmation receipt of the item and final bid amount.

Check-Out and Payment

A check out table will be located near the exit. Attendees can claim items and check out during the Dancing portion of the evening. Guests who have already provided their credit card information may check out by reviewing and signing a summary of purchases and charges. If preferred, items may be paid for by personal check or cash upon check out. No items will be distributed without payment and all sales are final. Items cannot be returned or exchanged. All auction items must be paid for and removed from the premises the evening of the event, unless specific arrangements are made with managing event personnel.

Estimated values of items are those supplied by the donors. Each item is sold "As Is" by the Solana Beach Ball, in Partnership with the Solana Beach Foundation for Learning, without warrants expressed or implied, and without representation by the Solana Beach Ball, in partnership with the Solana Beach Foundation for Learning, as to the actual value of an item, either for tax purposes or for general use. According to the Internal Revenue Service, only the amount paid for an auction prize "in excess of the actual cash value of the prize" is tax deductible.

PLEASE NOTE: Participation in the Solana Beach Ball 2012 Silent Auction or Live Auction constitutes a waiver of any and all claims against the Solana Beach Ball 2012, in partnership with the Solana Beach Foundation for Learning, its employees, agents, teachers and representatives for any damage, loss or injury from or connected with the use or receipt of any item or service auctioned.
